Yesterday i install the software for vulnerabilities, Nessus tool. I want to review how to install it, here I use Nessus version 5 to backtrack 5 which is the offspring of ubuntu 10.04 or the code name Lucid.

First, download here

The second, and look where Nessus place a successful download. Here I put it in my home folder. then enter the terminal.
and type:
root @ bt: ~ # ls
to see whether there Nessus in your home folder
then extract and install it in a way, type:
root @ bt: ~ # dpkg-i Nessus-5.0.1-ubuntu910_i386.deb
and the results are as above
Application Nessus unlike other applications contained in backtrack, so we had to sign up to the site Nessus. because this application is localhost. to run it enough to turn on the terminal, and into the web browser to go to localhost Nessus us.
Third, we must follow the instructions contained in our time we install Nessus.
- You can start nessusd by typing / etc / init.d / nessusd start
- Than go to https://bt:8834/ to configure your scanner
commands that you should do.
Fourth, we enable nessusd the way, type:
root @ bt: ~ # / etc / init.d / nessusd start
then go to the web browser, and type in the address bar
https://bt:8834/
and the image will appear as above.
Get Started choose to continue,
then fill in a login, password, and current password to login to the localhost nessus
and remember here we will enroll in two places offline and online
for which we list to login offline
for the online we list in order to sync the two. and at the time of online registration we are expected to wait for the installation nessusd pluggin in your web browser to use localhost.
after you enroll in both offline and online, please login with your username and password you entered earlier.
